Respect States Rights on Cannabis Legazization

Incoming Vice President Mike Pence is being formally urged to respect the rights of states like California, which have legalized medical and recreational marijuana.

The national chapter of NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) recently sent a letter to Pence expressing concern over the cabinet appointments of President-elect Donald Trump. His choice for attorney general, U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, is especially alarming because the nominee has said things like, “Good people don’t smoke marijuana.”

While Trump has vowed to support states’ rights when it comes to cannabis, NORML says Sessions’ appointment sure doesn’t bode well for that stance. “The administration is currently sending mixed messages in regards to the future of marijuana law reform under the incoming administration,” the organization said in a statement.
